I'm pretty sure the kingdom is actually based around a Matriarchal Sovereignty. The king is there just for being a figure-head stand in, no matter how much he remind's me of Lelouch's bad-ass father from Code Geass. You can tell since the Queen is in charge of the intelligence network in order to make the big decisions, while the king just attends all the public events that showcase the royalty's wealth and prestige. This would also explain the King's kiss-*ss support of that b*tchy princess, meaning if the queen kicked the bucket, the evil b*tch would be next in line to rule as the eldest of the matriarch's daughters-(There was a younger one in the opening theme, whom I suspect the queen favors instead of the older one.)

Gotta say watching this beats the hell out of reading it in LN format. They glossed right over the gamey skills to instead focus on the characters and it went right from barely readable details broken up by appreciable plot points to a solid, watchable anime that I'm thoroughly enjoying. I can't wait to get up to and past the point where I stopped reading. In fact I think my singular wish for the show at this point is that it get's a bigger budget or just pays more attention to detail cause the stills of villagers being attacked during the calamity and certain other little things aren't doing the rest of the show justice and goddamn do I want to be justified as I go full fanboy.

Overall, this episode really brings home the plan of setting Naofumi up as a folk hero rather than a royal hero. The way people are warming up to him, as his actions speak for themselves, really is well written and played out. The addition of Filo is definitely going to have some interesting consequences for the group interaction - especially with what happens in the last minute of this episode.
His race with the Spear Hero was also really well done, especially as it shows how he's more on guard against saboteurs. I'm very curious who these mysterious shadow observers owe their full allegiance to, as they've helped Myne in the past but are now working against her. Either way, the lore is building up dramatically and the world is filling out nicely. Looking forward to much more to come!

Myne has definitely been written as a purely malicious being who gets her jollies from tormenting others. Much as I enjoy hating her, it does make her rather.... bland as a character. No motivation for why she's doing these things beyond "she's just a horrible being".

I see you only write about princess Malty death wish? For me I'm glad that Shield hero is Solo player, becouse there is no one to slow him down now. And about Malty death wish, I'm furious on everyone exept those who helped Naofumi so I want them gone/death/slaughtered in the next WAVE. (Not sure about Itsuki and Ren; :/)
